Originally from Rockland, Maine, Sarah arrived in Newport in the fall of 1997 for her first year as a Salve Regina student. During her four undergraduate years at SRU, Sarah double majored in Elementary and Special Education, played on the varsity tennis and lacrosse teams, and served as a Resident Assistant. Because she wanted to share her positive Salve experience with prospective students and because Newport's a tough place to leave, Sarah joined the admissions staff after graduation in 2001.
Sarah's admissions territory is scattered across New England, and consists of the state of Vermont, a small part of Connecticut, Western Massachusetts (from Springfield through the Berkshires), North Worcester County and portions of the South Shore of MA. In addition to traveling/recruiting and reading applications, Sarah also plans Connections Day, which is the annual day program for accepted students.
Currently, Sarah is enrolled as a graduate student in Salve Regina’s Holistic Counseling department and balances an internship at a local mental health facility. In her free time, Sarah enjoys keeping up with her Vinyasa yoga practice, dancing, writing poetry, and frequenting the local vegetarian restaurants.
When asked what her favorite part of working with prospective students is, Sarah responds, "I really enjoy this age group. There are so many negative things said about teens in the media today, and not enough about the courageous, selfless, amazing young people that I meet and read about in college essays. At 18 years-old, they’re an idealistic group who are full of potential – its great helping them to unlock it."
