Associate Director of Admissions
Head Men's Tennis Coach

BA, Providence College
Joined Salve Regina's staff in 2006

E-mail: shanleyb@salve.edu

Prior to joining the Salve community, Brian taught at Bishop Feehan High School, negotiated sales and service contracts for two technology firms, worked for the Inaugural World Scholar-Athlete Games, and at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

In 1995, Brian accepted the positions of Assistant Athletic Director and Head Coach of the men's tennis team at Salve. He explains that he was drawn here because "Salve provides a solid educational experience and allows students to participate and take leadership roles in activities while being one of the most beautiful places on earth." A resident of Newport, Brian appreciates all the city has to offer, especially "the landscape, access to the ocean, the harbor, and an amazing array of events."

As coach of a team with five consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference championships under its belt, Brian has proven his ability to recruit, inspire, and mentor; in fact, as many Salve students can attest, it's impossible to converse with Brian without feeling more confident, hopeful and happy than you did prior to bumping into him. With this gift and Brian's first-hand knowledge of the Salve experience, it's no wonder why Admissions is a natural fit for him.

Brian's travel territory includes southeastern Massachusetts and the mid-Atlantic (Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia). Wherever he goes, Brian never strays from his ultimate goal: "To provide direction and support where needed for both potential students and those that enroll. I enjoy helping people find their way."

Although his spare time is limited, Brian's first priority is spending time with his wife and son. Between family excursions and study breaks (he's currently enrolled in Salve's Master's in Management program), he is a loyal viewer of his current TV favorites, 24 and The Office. Brian sums it up as follows: "I am fortunate to be at Salve. It is a University where young people can reach their potential in so many areas of their lives. Hopefully I can help in some way in that process."
