Hailing from South Dartmouth, MA, Ralph developed a fondness for the Ocean State during his undergraduate years at Providence College, where he majored in English with a focus on Women's Studies, Black Studies, and Business Studies.
When Ralph tells prospective students that having the optimum college experience requires getting involved, he's speaking from experience. At his alma mater, Ralph served as a Resident Assistant for three years, wrote for the school newspaper, managed PC's radio station, and sang in an acapella group.
After graduating from college, Ralph joined Salve Regina's admissions staff and inherited a large portion of Massachusetts, Michigan and Georgia as his territories. And, just as one would expect from him, Ralph has immersed himself wholeheartedly in the Salve Regina community since his arrival. He is the Coordinator of Multicultural Student Recruitment, and serves as a faculty advisor for the Multicultural Student Organization.
The epitome of a people person, Ralph genuinely enjoys meeting prospective students, guidance counselors, parents, and other college representatives throughout the admissions cycle. Next to personal interaction, Ralph's favorite aspect of his job is reading students' essays. He says, "Reading essays is fun and a privilege. Students share so much of their worlds with us in their essays, things they might not share with anyone else." Ralph also appreciates working in Newport since "we are two seconds away from the beach, the area is beautiful, and there is always something to do."
When Ralph has spare time, he enjoys mixing music on his turntables, playing tennis, writing, and playing his Nintendo Wii (SO much fun!). He also dreams of traveling! "If I could travel anywhere in the world, I'd like to go to Tokyo, Rome, Greece, Ireland, and Cape Verde, where my family is from." That's a tall order… for now he better settle for his trips up Interstate 93!
