While on a family vacation at the age of ten, Stephanie walked along the Cliff Walk with her mother, father and sister Sarah, pointed at Ochre Court and said, "I want to live there." Her father chuckled and said, "That is Salve Regina University and if you think you are going to live there you had better get good grades in school."
As a high school senior sifting through a crate of mailings about college open houses, applications, and various other college information, Stephanie thought back to the beautiful mansion on the cliffs in Newport. She inquired about it to her guidance counselor and got back to campus for a visit. She learned that not only was Salve Regina University beautiful, but the mission of the university embraced ideals that she believed in and the people she spoke with treated her as an individual. Stephanie applied, was accepted, and decided to enroll after sitting down for a session with the education staff at an open house.
After four years of school, double majoring in secondary education and theatre arts (with a minor in English literature too!), a year as a resident assistant, two years as an orientation leader, volunteering as a freshmen mentor, gracing the Megley Theatre stage, working in the Admissions office as a tour guide, singing in the chorus and many other wonderful experiences, Stephanie walked across the Salve Regina commencement stage on May 16, 2004 not wanting to leave her new found family. She hoped to give back to a community that embraced her and made a dedicated effort to prepare her for the "real world."
Stephanie believes working in the Undergraduate Admissions Office is the ideal way to give back and ensure a smooth transition for incoming students. She works with students from Connecticut and California. When she's not on Salve's campus, Stephanie also finds plenty of time to enjoy Newport. Her favorite activities include relaxing at Second Beach, walking at Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge and the Cliff Walk, assisting during productions in Salve's Megley Theatre and drinking coffee at sunset on Ocean Drive.
