In 2005, while earning his Master's Degree in Higher Education & College Student Personnel at the University of Rhode Island, Erik joined the Salve Admissions staff as a graduate student intern. Before venturing on after graduate school, he was offered a position on the staff. Erik now travels to New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania & Colorado spreading the word about Salve, which he describes as a place where "faculty genuinely care about students and their progress over the years. The atmosphere on campus promotes academic excellence and motivates the students to excel."
Speaking of motivation, Erik finds his in you! As a first generation college student himself, he understands that the admissions process can be overwhelming and stressful; Erik's mission is to bring clarity and joy to it for you and your family. In addition to his travels, he reviews applications from his territories, coordinates the electronic communications for the Admissions Department, and represents Salve as a member of the Rhode Island Association of Admission Officers. During his exchanges, Erik advises prospective students to think about "fit" first: "Don't let rankings and recognition rule over your college search. It's all about finding the RIGHT FIT for YOU!"
In his spare time, this native Rhode Islander enjoys cooking to the Food Network standards, getting a hold of tickets at Gillette Stadium to cheer on the New England Patriots, obsessing with other admissions staff members about American Idol, attempting to solve the mystery of Lost and indulging in his guilty pleasure of reality TV! Inspired by his own heritage, Erik has also traveled to Italy and Greece recently and is determined to visit all 50 states by the time his 30th birthday rolls around (he's halfway done so far!). Until then, he's content in Newport…"whenever I drive over the bridges, I think 'wow! I'm so lucky to live and work here!'"
